Eat Drink Paleo Cook Book Review.

It’s Eat Drink Paleo cook book review time! We’ve been meaning to write about the lovely Irena Macri’s Eat Drink Paleo the cookbook. You would know her form her site with the same name: Eat Drink Paleo.

We were lucky enough to meet her a while back, she is just as lovely in real life! It’s always fun when you get to meet online friends! Here’s a pic of us with Irena and the lovely Ali from Paleo Foodies.

First things first, the book is beautiful, stunning in fact. One of those books you could flick through again and again. Every time we flick, we see something new we hadn’t noticed before! The chalk board theme is super stylish and fun and we love that the theme carries on from Irena’s website. Ticks for design!

Not just full of recipes, there’s a stack of information in the book. Perfect for any paleo newbie or if you’re after a refresh on paleo principals. Don’t know about you guys, but we read A LOT about paleo… and you know what… it’s bloody hard to remember every darn thing! We often have to go back and google LOADS of questions. This doesn’t really bother us because we’re lucky to live in 2014 where this quote from Albert Einstein is extremely relevant: “Never memorise something you can look up.” What a smart guy… we live by this, imagine if we had to go to a library every time we forgot why we don’t eat legumes!

Ok now to the most important stuff, the food!  It’s just drool-worthy. We seriously want to cook every recipe! Actually our preference would be for Irey to cook every recipe for us (hehe kidding… but not really). The recipes are just darn amazing. As you all know we’re pretty simple paleo cooks and at first glance some of the recipes intimidated us (because they look THAT good) but Irey is clever and writes them in a very easy to understand way. They’re the perfect recipes for a paleo dinner party or pot luck that will be sure to impress! For entree you could whip up Lemongrass Pumpkin Soup, make Macadamia Herb Crusted Pork Chops for main and Raspberry and Honey Chocolate Torte to finish!

Another thing we LOVE is the little icons that categorise each recipe, including: dairy, nuts, shellfish, nightshades, under 30 minutes to make, good for entertaining… this just equals awesome and makes it easier to choose what to make! There are over 100 recipes, a great mixture of brekky, snacks, dinners, sides, drinkies and of course sweet treats (yum)! Mango and Blackberry Meringue Roulade, Chilli Chocolate Mousse, Harissa Chorizo Egg Crepes and Pulled Pork Taco Feast just to name a few! Are you drooling yet?!

We’ve heard amazing things about Irey’s lasagne and we couldn’t resist making it which is her most popular recipe from the blog and also included in the book, we also whipped up her paleo zucchini carbonara (it was a real Italiano-paleoano night!). Irena has kindly let us share the recipes with you! Click here for the lasagne recipe and here for the carbonara recipe! Look at the pretty photo!
