Why Your and Your Business Should Be on Snapchat
ONE: Build your brand.
We’re calling Snapchat REAL social media. It’s the only place where you can really see what a person is really really like.
No filters (well ok, there are fun filters) but no staged selfies, staged flatlays, staged anything! Snapchat (especially videos) is raw, random and bloody powerful when it comes to building your brand.
Snapchat gives you the opportunity to share exactly what your day is like, the kind of stuff you get up to, what you’re launching, what you’re working on, your pets, kids, whatever you please!
It gives your audience a behind the scenes pass into your life. Building trust and building the brand of you.
TWO: Engage with your audience. Get direct feedback.
Snapchat = NEXT LEVEL engagement with your audience.
How freaking amazing would it be to get a personalised video from someone you admire? Uhh, yeah, pretty darn amazing. Snapchat makes it easy as for you to do this.
You can reply to snaps using video, audio, still images, text or cute drawings.
We reckon video is the way to go to create ridiculously amazing connections with your audience. Ask them questions, get direct feedback!
One of the coolest things you can do, is ask your audience to screenshot at certain times of your story, then you can tell what people are loving and do more of that.
The other day we wrote down our smoothie recipe and asked our audience to screenshot it so they could make it later, we then had people sharing photos across Instagram of their smoothie! Yay. How cool!
THREE: Engage with influencers.
It goes all ways with Snapchat! Now you can easily connect with the influencers in your industry. Wanna chat to Taylor Swift? Well, you probably have more of a chance on Snapchat than any other platform. But a real life example? Well, we snapped GaryVee and he wrote back to us, boom connection. We snapped all of the Tropical Think Tank speakers, just to say thanks and that we love them, boom connection.
There has never been a better time to reach out to influencers. They are so reachable. Especially when it comes to Snapchat. Next time you LOVE something someone has done… send them a snap and tell them!
FOUR: It’s fun.
You KNOW we’re all about making your business fun. If you find something you enjoy… then do more of it! Ok?! And Snapchat is fun. Like SO fun. Can you say… FILTERS?! Oh, we can. And we LOVE them!
FIVE: It’s better than other ‘live’ social media channels.
It’s live social media… but it’s not necessarily LIVE. The 24 hour life thing makes your story timely and relevant. You can’t schedule. You can’t really plan (like you can plan topics but you can’t plan like you would writing content/filming videos/recording podcasts etc.). It is right here, right now!
BUT the best thing is that you can respond to your snaps when you have some downtime. Unlike Periscope which is like ARHHH I have to reply and look at all the comments flying on my face.
