Healthy nutella slice recipe, it’s naaaa-tella slice

This healthy nutella slice is here just in time for Easter! And let us tell you… it’s so good! It quite possibly might be our new favourite healthy sweet treat recipe! And we know we say this ALL the time! But… we serious. It’s insanely good!

It’s a three layer raw slice, so it’s super easy to make. No oven required… just a blender (high powered will make the layers more smooth) and measuring equipment. You don’t even need to rinse the blender between each layer.

Ok let’s talk more about these layers.

The bottom layer is like a nutty, coconutty biscuit base. This could be a recipe on it’s own! It is so good.

Then the second layer, get ready for a rich, smooth choc hazelnut sensation. Think healthy nutella… we sweetened it with rice malt, if you’re trying to stick to lower carb treats you could use xylitol (you’ll need to guest-a-mate measurements hehe).

We were almost going to leave it at just two layers, but how could we resist? The third layer is decadent chocolate perfection.

Ok, enough talking. Check out the recipe below, add the ingredients to your shopping list and get cooking!

  • 2 tsp rice malt syrup (or natural sweetener of choice)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt

For the filling

  • 1 cup roasted hazelnuts
  • 1 cup coconut milk (canned)
  • 1/3 cup coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup raw cacao powder
  • 1/3 cup rice malt syrup (or natural sweetener of choice)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt

For the topping

  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup raw cacao powder
  • 1/4 cup rice malt syrup (or natural sweetener of choice)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup roasted hazelnuts chopped (optional)

  • Line or grease a 20 x 20 cm (8 inch) slice tin with baking paper.
  • Start with the base. Place all ingredients into a blender or food processor, whiz until a smooth paste forms.
  • Press the base into the slice tin evenly.
  • Now onto the filling. Place all the ingredients into your blender (no need to rinse) and whiz until smooth. This will take around 2-5 minutes.
  • Transfer the filling into the base, spread evenly with the back of a spoon.
  • Time for the final chocolate layer! Place all the ingredients into the blender, except the chopped hazelnuts (no need to rinse!) and whiz on low speed until smooth and delicious looking.
  • Pour the final chocolate layer on top and sprinkle with chopped hazelnuts.
  • Place into the freezer for about 2 hours or until set.
  • Once the slice is set, carefully lift out of the tin, slice and enjoy! Slice entire slice, store in the freezer and defrost as required.
