Most people have some sort of new years resolution. To lose weight, get healthy, find a better job, the list goes on. It’s easy to say you want something but how do you make sure you stick to it + it gets ticked off that list? That’s where goals come in. We’re big on goals, in fact we set little ones each day to make sure we’re keeping on track. Here’s our tips on how to keep a new years resolution.
One: you’ve told yourself a billion times what it is you’re going to achieve for 2014. That’s all well + good but you need to make it concrete. Write it down! Make them specific, measurable, achievable, realistic + timely (the ole S.M.A.R.T goals… works a treat!).
Two: you’ve written down your SMART goals, nice work! Make a few copies + put them somewhere you look at lots every day, like a mirror, calendar, diary… or fridge!
Three: say it out loud + tell the world! Letting friends + family know about your goals will give you more motivation to achieve them + keep you accountable. Plus, we are huge believers in that what you put out into the universe will make its way back to you some way or another. Kind of like karma.
Four: celebrate your successes (small + large). Every step closer to your end goals should be a reason to celebrate. Even if it’s a pat on the back… tell yourself this every day: I AM AMAZING!
Five: monitor + change. Goals change direction all the time + sometimes a deadline will be missed. It’s important to not beat yourself up about this… treat yourself how you treat others: with kindness!
