We’re big on getting as many of our essential vitamins and minerals from real food. We do this by aiming to include a huge selection of fresh veggies, quality meats, poultry, fish, fruit, nuts, seeds and oils in our diets. BUT we do take some vitamin pills just to make sure we’re covering all bases. We never really thought twice about what was actually in our vitamin pills. We knew that a lot of supplements were full of baddies but as for our vitamin pills, we just thought ‘it’s a vitamin pill, surely it’s just full of good stuff?’ How wrong we were!
With a bit of research (thank you google) we found out that most vitamin pills and supplements contain nutrients made from synthetic chemical mixes made in factories, not from natural food sources… ahh, not cool! Here we were eating 100% amazing diets and then consuming synthetics in the form of vitamin pills! Talk about #annoying
These synthetic vitamins are created to mimic the benefits of their peer. These synthetic vitamins only provide small pieces of the whole vitamin because they don’t contain the full benefit that nature intended. If we take these synthetic vitamins, we’re usually getting high amounts of some vitamins (sometimes over 200% of the recommended daily intake) and then not enough of others. More often than not, our bodies can’t use all of the vitamins and it just gets rid of what we don’t use up (hello super bright yellow wee! Ha!).
To us, the chemicals just weren’t worth it. We gave up on taking vitamins.
That was until we heard about the launch of the Nature’s Way Whole Foods range. Vitamins and supplements MINUS the chemical baddies that fill the rest! We’re really excited to spread the word about Australia’s first 100% Wholefood vitamin and supplement range.
Nature’s Way say…
it’s time to get back in tune with your body, and get your nutrients the natural way: from real food.
Hooray! That’s what we think! You guys can definitely come stay in our pantry!
The vitamin content of a whole food vitamin is 100% derived from food sources, with no synthetic or artificial vitamins added. This includes vitamins from fruits, veggies, herbs and super foods from gardens, orchards, farms and the ocean.
We were excited to read the ingredient label and see words we could actually pronounce (and recognise!). Ingredients like guava, lemon, berries, curry leaves, maca, bamboo and green tea! See what we mean by the Whole-Food thing?
Interested in knowing if they work and what they’re like? Well, we’re going to put them to the test for the next 3 months! We’ve each got a full set of the Nature’s Way Whole Foods range including Vitamin D3, Women’s Multivitamin, Vitamin C, Magnesium Powder and we’ve given merrymaker Dad a bottle of the Men’s Multivitamin to try!
We’ll be giving you updates along the way about how we feel and what we think!
Do you take vitamin pills or supplements? What’s on the back of your bottle… the ingredient list we mean? We’d love to know! Join in on the conversation, just leave us a comment!
Always merrymaking,
Emma + Carla
