Our only goal was to lose weight | October Challenge!


Once upon a time, for us, exercise was used as a form of punishment for all the ‘bad’ food we ate. It was all about calories in and out. We’d feel guilty when we skipped a workout and anxious when we swayed from our diets.

Our only goal was to lose weight or not put on weight.

This way of living and exercising was created from Diet Culture.

“Diet culture is the pervasive belief that appearance and body shape are more important than physical, psychological, and general well-being. It’s the idea that controlling your body, particularly your diet—by limiting what and how much you eat—is normal.”

Diet Culture is RUBBISH.


We’re so glad we began to question these sets of beliefs that came about from media, movies, magazines, marketing, people around us and ourselves.

Now, movement is part of our daily lives, as a method to welcome joy, to promote health and vitality and to simply help us feel good in mind and body.

Now, we care more about all the positive effects like better posture, better moods and feel-good hormone release, better balance and an increase in bone density. The list goes on!

Now, we don’t diet! We don’t see food as ‘good’ and ‘bad’, we don’t look at food as fuel alone. We don’t restrict ourselves only to binge on a weekend.

Now, we don’t constantly think and fret about our food choices. And this is absolutely life-changing.

This massive change in our mindset did not happen overnight. It took time. It took action.

We changed our way of thinking by linking a Self-Acceptance mindset practice to our Exercise practice.

Our new reason to exercise became a celebration of our bodies. It became a method to practice self-kindness and respect. It became a daily action of gratitude for our bodies.

And this is why we created the MerryBody Method.

MerryBody combines Yoga and Pilates with the mindset work of self-belief, body confidence, and self-acceptance. It’s a tool that helps you work out in a way that makes you feel good about yourself.
