How did you discover paleo?
About 5 years ago, very good friends of mine (and fellow bike racers) told me they were going to try something called “Paleo” and I was intrigued. I read “The Paleo Diet For Athletes” and made the decision that as of January 2010, I would give it a try. Here we are over 4 years later. Paleo has truly changed my life for the better!
Wow, so many people! My family and close friends are all amazing. I always say that I know the coolest people in the world. My readers inspire me every day with their stories of how they’ve positively changed their health and their lives by making the commitment to nourish themselves and eat better. It gives me goosebumps to read their messages.
Most definitely go at your own pace and be willing to change and evolve over time. Paleo and eating a real food diet are more a lifestyle than just a quick-fix restriction. It’s about living healthily in so many ways: incorporating physical activity, getting more sleep, doing what you can to reduce the stress in your life. Some people are comfortable going “cold turkey” when they first start Paleo; others need to take time to get used to it and gradually change over time. Neither is the right answer. Perfection isn’t the goal, either. What’s more important is making really great choices a majority of the time over months and years.
I want to be happy, healthy and harder to kill 😉 so I eat great food, lift heavy things and spend time doing the things I love. It all boils down to that!

3/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
1/3 cup coconut oil
1/4 raw cacao powder
1/4 cup coconut sugar
1 tsp. organic ground coffee beans
1/3 cup macadamia nuts.
