Improve Your Life: Step Outside Your Comfort Zone.

Us humans get pretty comfy. We tend to love routine, doing the same thing day in and day out for long periods of time. This quote is one of our faves and pretty much sums it all up… we’re sure you’ve read it before too:

As we get older this quote gets more meaningful. We look around and notice that most of us don’t really like being uncomfy, trying new stuff or pushing past our limits. We definitely fall into this mindset sometimes and have to consciously change our way of thinking to better our wellbeing.

We’ve realised we can improve our lives just by stepping outside our comfort zones.

One step outside of our comfort zone is where the magic starts to happen. This is where we all begin to change, evolve, grow, improve, live.

This is where we have to go to reach our goals and follow our dreams… because no one is going to hand our dreams to us while we chill out in our comfort zones.

So how do we get there? How do we make the choice to step out of the comfort zone and into the MAGIC zone? 

Try something new every week. Like a new fitness activity! We’ve tried rock climbing, paddle boarding, knife defence (yes, knife defence!) and FlowYoga. We now also do CrossFit style training. Hello handstand pushups, kettle bell swings, dead lifts and a hundred other movements we had never done before… so yes, a definite step outside our comfort zone! 

Talk to new people. Old friends are great but do you know what’s even cooler? New friends! It’s amazing what a new person can bring to your life. Don’t know how to talk to a stranger? How about starting with “Hello!” and a question like “Do you like cheese?” This always breaks the ice ;).

Face a fear. This could be as crazy as skydiving or something more simple, like swimming laps!

Take up the invite. Say YES to the party invite from the cute gym friend, YES to the networking event, YES to the hike with your work buddy, YES to the weekend away. You just never know where a YES might lead to next… and you know what? You might just have fun.

Find inspiration. Sometimes you have to go looking for the stuff! Flick through a magazine, google a new blog or trawl an Instagram feed. Inspiration surrounds us, you just need to find it!

Take a risk. This could be as small as wearing a new lipstick colour or as bold as quitting your office job to start a new small business (now that IS bold and we say go for it!).
