We know ‘hate’ is a strong word but we really hate it when we hear anyone talk about burning calories, especially during an exercise class.
Really this is one of the big reasons why we created MerryBody Online Studio. We wanted to create a workout that didn’t cast shame. We wanted to create a way of movement that did not feel like punishment.
In MerryBody Online Yoga and Pilates classes, you will never hear us talk about calories, working off your weekend indulgences, losing your muffin top/thunder thighs/saddlebags etc.
You’ll never hear the words Bikini Body or Summer Body come out of our mouths. Because your body is amazing all year round.
And we truly believe that your body is amazing NOW, but of course, it’s ok and sometimes necessary to make a change.
What we care about, is your intention behind the change.
Is it driven by fear or anger or self-hate?
Example: I work out because I hate my tummy, I hate how it hangs over my jeans, so I need to lose weight.
Or does it come from a place of respect?
Example: I work out because it makes me feel happy and strong.
So it’s time to check-in, what’s your self-talk like?
What do you say to yourself when you look in the mirror or just before you go to workout.
This action step will help you understand if the intention behind your desire to change is from love and respect or fear and hate.
This is why we personally workout with the intention of acceptance, respect and above all… JOY. And this is the intention behind each and every MerryBody Yoga and Pilates class we create.
And when we work on changing the intention and motivation behind our workouts EVERYTHING changes!

Even if your body looks great in the mirror but you feel anything but positive, what’s the point? Through Meditation and focusing on your mindset, MerryBody Online Studio looks at your intentions and works first on accepting yourself.
By shifting your mindset, you can change your relationship with working out and your body. You’ll learn to cultivate a positive mindset that changes the voice in your head from “I need to lose weight” to “I’m doing this because I actually enjoy it and because it feels good”.
2. Movement that makes your body feel joy
The way we see it, the goal of exercise should be to make your body feel amazing. To give you the joy of moving freely and in an empowering way – it shouldn’t cause you to barely be able to walk down the stairs or cause you to need to roll out of bed after a workout.
Using a gentle yet effective approach of Pilates and Yoga, MerryBody workouts invite you to explore what feels good for your body. Take time to understand your body’s needs, how it responds and exercise in a way that’s just right for you – and brings you the most joy.
MerryBody is designed for online, this is why our classes are filmed professionally (in fact we use 5 different cameras to capture every angle and movement!) with great sound, the classes are on-demand and will work within your schedule.
