To be beautiful means to be yourself.

“To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself.” – Thich Nhat Hanh

Reading this… it makes so much sense.

But it’s so easy to be consumed by the goal to be accepted and validated by others. ‘Others’ including the people we love, the people who intimidate us and society as a whole.

It’s easy to think that we are not good enough.

It’s easy to get negative thoughts about:

  • the way we look
  • the way we act
  • the things we love
  • the work we do
  • etc. etc. etc.

This is why we created this whole Merrymaking thing. Because we were in such dark places. And then changing the way we ate showed us a glimmer of light.

Then we worked on changing our thought patterns and we found more light. Then we started hanging out with people on similar paths, more light. Practising gratitude, meditating, yoga, pilates. More light. You get it. We made small changes over a period of time and our lives changed for the better.

All it takes is one small step after small step to create epic results. You don’t need to overhaul EVERYTHING. You just need to start with one teeny weeny little step.

Always merrymaking,

Emma + Carla
