We were so excited to be invited to the new menu launch at Sadhana Kitchen in Sydney the other week. It was Ahhhmazebites! Seriously. It was a night of delicious and beautifully presented raw, vegan food (and paleo). As you know we follow a paleo lifestyle but we love to try new things and being in this healthy foodie industry we love to have an understanding of why and how other people eat the way they do. A huge thank you to the whole team at Sadhana Kitchen!
The owner and director of Sadhana Kitchen is Maz Valcorza. She is adorable and spoke briefly at the dinner event, so of course we just had to have her as part of our ‘Get Inspired With’ series. Also… she’s sharing her raw, vegan strawberry glazed doughnut recipe. Three words… oh. My. Food!
Maz’s passion for food has always been apparent to her friends and family. It was only natural then, that she would trade in her corporate career for a chance to open Sydney’s first cafe specialising in organic, plant-based living foods and wholefoods. Welcome Sadhana Kitchen!
Maz believes that what we put in to our bodies everyday is part of our Sadhana (conscious spiritual practice). She hopes to share how through our Sadhana, everyone can discover their own personal wisdom, self healing abilities and infinite potential. She believes that through the practice of yoga and a healthy lifestyle, one can find happiness, health and freedom for all beings and at the same time, care for our world.
Now to get EVEN MORE inspired with Maz!
Share your top 3 tips for optimal health and wellbeing
- Connect with your inherent personal wisdom – only you know exactly what you need and no single lifestyle is going to suit absolutely every individual. Cultivating this understanding of yourself will empower you to take sovereignty over your own health and create you own culture of wellness and happiness.
- Move your body every day – whether it’s yoga, running, lifting, cross fit, hiking cycling or my new favourite trampolining. Whatever floats your boat, go outside if you can (bonus points for fresh air and sun!) ride your bike, walk whenever and wherever you can and move your body for at least an hour a day. Sweating is an essential part of detoxing, helps to balance hormones and keeps your body in optimum condition.
- Meditate – Meditation, mindful concentration, deep relaxation, whatever you wish to call it and however the practice presents itself to you, is useful and not just for yogis or hippies! Many people these days such as corporate professionals, entertainers and elite athletes are using meditation as a tool and vehicle to achieve ultimate health and happiness. Meditation has many practical uses, from physically calming the body and nervous system, to encouraging mental clarity to helping you manage stress. It also helps you to go within and cultivate that connection with your inherent wisdom.

It’s got to be when my mum and dad started making themselves green smoothies every morning. Growing up, I always ate a diet that was heavy in processed foods, refined carbohydrates and sugar. I never thought I would live to see the day that my parents would trade in their corned beef and spam for green superfood smoothies!
Share your signature trait, the weird and the wonderful are welcome
I really like the feeling of certain textures under my feet. An ex boyfriend once gave me a swatch of carpet samples for a birthday present because I always rub my feet against certain types of materials. It happen involuntarily, I don’t even notice it but everyone around me does! I’m also terrified of birds, love snakes, star wars, motorbikes and traditional Japanese tattoos.
