How to be less stressed in 7 days, do these 3 simple things

In just 7 days you will be less stressed if you focus on a few simple things. And when we say simple, we mean it!

How to be less stressed in 7 days, do these 3 simple things:

  1. One minute of deep breathing
  2. Take a moment of stillness
  3. Do at least 15 minutes of daily movement

Before we get to WHY these 3 things will make a huge positive impact on your life…

You might be thinking…

…how can one minute of breathing do anything?

…how can a moment of stillness make any positive impact?

…just 15 minutes, pffftt yeh right, you need to do at least 45 minutes and probably make it HIIT.

And yes we can always do MORE but if you’ve been trying to add exercise, meditation, or breathwork to your life for what seems like years, and you simply can’t stick to anything. You’re doing something wrong.

You’re putting too much pressure on yourself.

You’re starting too big.

You’re focusing on the big end goal… maybe for you, the big end goal is one hour of daily exercise or a daily 20-minute meditation practise.

You’re trying to go from 0 to 100 in one step.

This is where you’re going wrong.

Instead, simply focus on the first step.

Focus on the first breath.

The first downward-facing dog.

The first 1 km walk.

This is how you will make a change, step by step.

And yes, of course, it will take time and effort and it’s not about thinking you deserve to give yourself this time for your health and well-being… you actually need it!

You’re stressed, we know you are!

Ok, so why do Yoga and Meditation reduce stress?

Yoga and Meditation help your body get into the Parasympathetic Nervous System.

This is where we want our bodies to be, this is the system of healing and of restoration… it’s where the body goes in a state of ‘rest and digest’.

The alternative system is the Sympathetic Nervous System… or our state of ‘fight or flight’. And YES, we need this to survive, but we do NOT want to stay here. If we do, this can lead to burn out and many health issues.

So if you’re continuously running around, getting your to-do list ticked off, stressed in traffic, living in your inbox… Yoga and Meditation will drastically and positively change your days by helping you feel rested and rejuvenated.

Yoga and Meditation help you live with more mindfulness and presence.

When you focus on your breath you instantly welcome more presence into life. Instead of living inside your rambling thoughts of past, future, and what’s for dinner, you’ll live in the here and now.

You’ll experience and feel everything a little deeper. You’ll be able to give more focused attention to what is right in front of you, whether it’s time with your kids, your partner, or your work.

Yoga and Meditation will create a strong mindset and build resilience.

Have you ever noticed how you feel after accomplishing something? You feel more motivated, joyful, and stronger. And this is what you’ll feel after a Yoga class.

And it’s not just about building muscle and physical strength (yes, Yoga will do this!)… you’ll build mental strength and resilience. This resilience and strength will help you take more chances, believe in yourself bigger, feel more confident, and get you through hard times with less stress.

Meditation will also welcome more awareness to your thoughts so you can better see what thoughts are true and what thoughts are fabricated. Maybe you have thoughts like…

  • I am too fat
  • I’m not enough
  • I could never do that
  • Why did I act so dumb.

This way you spend less time stressing over thoughts that don’t serve you (FYI: all the above thoughts do not serve you and are not true).

If you’re feeling stressed and want to make a change today. Begin a Yoga and Meditation practice.

It could be as simple as sitting and breathing for one minute, 10 minutes of slow Yoga or signing up to MerryBody (there is a free 7 Day Trial HERE).

If you add any breathwork, Yoga or meditation to your life after reading this… let us know. We’d love to hear about it.

Always merrymaking,
