14 Quotes to inspire you to focus on one thing

We’ve been reading the book The One Thing, written by Jay Papasan and Garay Kellar and it’s really inspired us to do life and work differently. It’s about doing one thing at a time, doing it well, then moving on to the next. It’s about zoning in on what is important. It’s about being present with whatever it is you are doing right now!

If you want to hear us chat about this topic more you should check out Episode 294 on the Get Merry Podcast where we dive deep into the book and the idea of creating more focus by doing just one thing.

Ok let’s get into the inspiring quotes!

14 Quotes to inspire you to focus on one thing

“Do one thing at a time. Start the day with a list of things you have to do, and do the most important things first. Even if you don’t get the list done, you’ve gotten the most important things done. So many people spend so much time on things that aren’t important.” — Brian Tracy

“What you focus on grows. What you think about expands. And, what you dwell upon determines your destiny.” — Robin S. Sharma

“Each day, you can awake and focus on small, easy goals you can accomplish in the short term – goals that, over time, will lead you to your long-term goal” — Karen Salmansohn

“When the eyes are fixed on a single point the mind is diminished from being stimulated by all other external objects. And when the gaze is fixed on a single point within the body, our awareness draws inwards and the mind remains undisturbed by external stimuli. Thus, the use of a drishti allows the mind to focus and move into a deep state of concentration.” — Timothy Burgin

“Your mind can be compared to a glass of muddy water. If you let the glass stand for a long time, the mud will settle at the bottom of the glass and the water will become fairly clear. So when you sit down for a while to concentrate, your mind is muddy with restless thoughts. But if you sit long enough, repeatedly bringing the wandering mind back to the practice of meditation, you will see that all thoughts settle down; and in that stillness you will feel superconsciousness.” — Paramahansa Yogananda
