Canberra, It’s Time To Get Local and Shop Small!

By now you all probably know how much we love to keep things local. Why? Well it’s no secret that thriving local shops create thriving local communities, which create local jobs (AKA happy communities). These local shops and businesses count on community support and when we find a local hot spot, we’re always the first to share the love!

We’re really proud and excited to be part of the 2014 Shop Small movement and Canberra, you’re going to get VERY excited about our big $500 giveaway (be sure to visit the blog on 15 November when this giveaway launches! Yay!).

Shop Small is dedicated to supporting the small businesses that are the heartbeat of our community. We were asked by American Express to put together a map of our all time favourite local places to shop and more importantly, dine out at!

We’d love you all to check out and download our Shop Small map, which you can save to your phone and take with you while exploring our must try and must buys!

Our map takes you around Kingston, the new-old hot spot of Canberra!

Stop 1. Local Business: Penny University, 15 Kennedy Street Kingston

This little place is super cute and super yum! Penny University’s menu is seasonal, so take a seat (or a crate!) and order an almond milk smoothie!

Stop 2. Local Business: Bikram Yoga Kingston, 2/27-29 Eyre Street Kingston

Now it’s time to sweat it out and get zenned-up! At Bikram Yoga Kingston you’ll sweat in places you never thought possible! Be sure to re-hydrate with a local The Fix: Cold Pressed Juice

The Essential Ingredient is for all of your cooking and pantry supplies! Pick up a bottle of local Alto Olive Oil!

Stop 4. Local Business: The Old Bus Depot Markets, 21 Wentworth Avenue Kingston

If it’s Sunday, browse the aisles of local homemade food, fashion, art and homewares at the Old Bus Depot Markets! Some of our fave stalls and must visits include Bonty Jewellery,  boyandgirlco, and Australian Stone Jewellery.

Stop 5. Local Business: Paleo Perfection Espresso Bar, 121 Lot 2, Trevellian Quay Kingston

Order a Paleo Affogato and paleo treat from Paleo Perfection (you all know we LOVE this place!). We recommend the caveman slice – it might not look pretty but darn it tastes amazing!
