You would think that creating loads of healthy recipes for our blog would mean we eat really really good, home cooked food… all the time.
Oh so wrong. We share the same struggles (aka excuses hehe) as you.
Maybe yours sound a bit like…
- I have no time to cook dinner (that’s us sometimes).
- I can’t be bothered cooking for just me (that’s Carla sometimes when Emma and her boyfriend go out for fancy dates).
- I forgot the chicken <or insert any other ingredient> so I can’t make Moroccan CHICKEN.
- The recipe is too hard… (not our recipes though… so maybe it’s just the time thing :P).
As much as they are excuses, it’s still #struggletown and most definitely friction to living your healthiest, happiest life. And where there is friction, we either say ditch the friction or fix the friction.
We’re fixing the friction! Yay!
This week we’ve been road testing the Celebrate Health ready-made meals and let us just say that we are bloody impressed! We have 5 top picks but first, here’s why we’re loving them all…
- They taste amazing.
- They’re 100% natural, gluten free, have no added sugar and are preservative free.
- They take 2 minutes to heat up on the stove (or microwave if you want).
- They’re made in Australia.
- They have literally no nasties except for a little corn starch and guar gum, less than 1%.
Now you get why we were like “WE ARE SO HAPPY WE FOUND YOU!” Especially if you’ve been watching our Snapchat lately. Dinner had been turning into smoothie #2 of the day and we really weren’t getting enough veggies or real food. Oops.
On to our FAVOURITES and the ones we reckon you should stock up in your pantry for those struggle (slash excuse) filled evenings or lunch times!
QUINOA, BEAN AND VEGETABLE MINESTRONE SOUP
We love soup, you’ll see another 2 on our list of favourites. This one was tomato-y goodness and had a good amount of carbs, great for busy lunchtimes when you need to stay full until din dins.
CHICKEN, CHIA AND SWEET CORN ORGANIC SOUP
This one took us right back to our childhood. The addition of chia thickened it up nicely and it really was sweet and yum! We added pine nuts for the yum and pretty factor.
MEXICAN CHICKEN BROWN RICE AND BLACK BEAN
Ok, where’s the taco? Yes, we’ll nickname this one the taco bowl! Arh! You know we love Mexican everything! We recommend adding some guacamole for fun factor… and maybe even a side of corn chips :O… did we just say that? Yes, yes we did.
MOROCCAN CHICKEN BROWN RICE AND CHICKPEA
This one was our fave. It was seriously just so good. We hadn’t had chickpeas in ages either so that was a fun thing to enjoy! We added spinach leaves when heating it up for extra greens… because that’s ALWAYS a good idea.
PUMPKIN AND SWEET POTATO ORGANIC SOUP
Delish by itself (add pumpkin seeds for crunch!) but of course we had to go be weird/creative/amazing and mix it with something else. We combined this soup with the Moroccan Chicken (like literally mixed it all together into one big stew) and let us just say… do it. Do it. Do it!
100% Merrymaker approved. Overall we’re pumped that we’ve found something that is going to help us stay on track of our real food goals during super busy times. Even better that they are the most affordable healthy ready-made meals we’ve found, they’re like $6 a meal. BOOM!
