How Much Does It Cost To Do Yoga?

How-Much-Does-It-Cost-To-Do-Yoga

When looking to create a consistent exercise practice there are many elements that can either help or hinder your success.

When it comes to Yoga, the question around the cost of Yoga classes can either motivate you to attend, or do the complete opposite!

Depending on what types of Yoga classes you’re looking for and the style of Yoga you prefer, think: Hatha Yoga, Bikram Yoga (no thanks), Hot Yoga, 90 minutes of Yoga, the cost will vary for a casual class.

We’ve been to Yoga lessons and Yoga studios where a casual pass is $40. However, we’d say that $22-$30 is the average cost of a casual class. The cost of the class depends on many factors, like where the Studio is, how long the class goes for and what style of Yoga.

If you’re looking to create a consistent Yoga practice, when you look at those numbers, it’s not the most cost effective practice. Without a membership you’re looking at $70 per week for 3 classes! With a membership it’s still around $40 per week! Long term this is not great for your wallet.

We realised this early on when we became certified as a Yoga teacher (Carla) and Pilates teacher (Emma). It was one of the reasons why we decided to create an Online Yoga Studio, rather than focus on bricks and mortar.

It meant we could create and provide high quality Yoga classes at a much more cost effective and accessible price (we are talking under $1 a day for unlimited classes). Which means more people can access the powerful practice of Yoga.

You can start for free over here and see what we’re talking about!

Literally, the cost of our Studio is around the same price per month that one causal class is in real life!

If cost is one of the elements causing friction in your life to create a consistent Yoga or movement practice, then absolutely it’s time to start an online studio membership.

Many Yoga studios offer introductory passes that can make it more cost effective initially. Pair this with your unlimited access to online classes, and a consistent practice seems so much more doable.

Perhaps it’s your schedule that’s causing conflict?

Everyone has the same 24 hours in a day… However, not everyone’s 24 hours look the same.

You might have kids, a long commute to work, a workplace that requires shift work… it can sometimes feel impossible to get to that 5.00pm workout! Sure you can go to the 5.30am one but also, did you hear? SLEEP is so important.

This is why we always ask our Members to really think about their lives. Where does it make sense to be able to fit in a workout? Don’t go all gung ho and proclaim “I’m going to workout every single day for 1 hour!” when logistically, you don’t have that spare hour.

Although you may feel excited at the idea, if it’s not realistic, you’re simply setting yourself up for failure.

We always suggest setting a realistic high-low goal with your workout. For example: I will do 2-4 classes each week. Everyone’s goals will look different depending on what else is going on in your life.

On top of that, trying to work around someone else’s schedule can make a consistent basic Yoga practice difficult. If you can’t get to the 5.00pm class, or the one that starts at 9.30am (because ummm, work?), it really is impossible!

Again, this is where we will toot our own horn and encourage you to try an Online Class, the most common feedback we get from Members is: “it feels like I’m doing group classes with you! I feel like I’m in the room with you!”

This class is a super quick Yoga flow, so why not press play now…

There are so many types of Yoga classes, how do I choose?
