How To Unblock Chakras

unblock-chakras

Chakras continue to gain more and more popularity. But what are these spinning wheels of energy and why do people want to unblock Chakras? In Western culture, it’s seen as a ‘New Age’ thing, but it’s an ancient body of work, an ancient energy system. The Chakras originated from India, first mentioned in the Vedas, the ancient sacred texts of spiritual knowledge dating from 1500 to 1000 BCE.

The word Chakra in Sanskrit translates to ‘wheel’. In the main Chakra System, there are 7 energy wheels or energy centers that begin from the base of your spine to the top of your head. They are formed due to the 72 000 Nadi lines (rivers of energy) intersecting across Sushumna Nadi, the most powerful Nadi (this runs along the spine).

When the Chakras are aligned, open and spinning, you feel a sense of ease and flow within life. Energy flows effortlessly to you and through you. When they are blocked, clogged or out of balance you can feel like life is a drag, everything is hard, you may feel low energy like you’re forever walking uphill. Chakras can also be overused and be ‘too open’. This may create a feeling of disconnection and chaos.

Balancing, connecting and working with these wheels of energy promotes vitality and a sense of flow, it adds brightness and lightness to your spiritual and physical body. Whether you have an interest in alternative holistic health, you’re a Yoga practitioner, looking into Ayurveda or your co-worker told you that you really need to work on your Sacral Chakra, there are many different ways to work with the Chakras and open your flow of energy.

Before we go on, we personally have a deep respect and fascination with this world, however, it’s important to state that this body of work has not been thoroughly examined by modern medical studies.

What we love about this subject matter is that it evokes self-reflection. We encourage you to use this information to guide you to look inward.

We like to look at this information as ‘tools’ not necessarily truths, but methods to create inner and outer peace and alignment.

How do you Unblock the Chakras?

There are many ways to work with the Chakras. You can use Yoga, meditation, chanting, Ayurvedic medicine, essential oils, massage, music and more. No matter HOW you decide to work with the Chakras, the goal is to feel balance in the energetic, physical and emotional body and you do this by healing energy centres.

Base Chakra (or Root Chakra) – Muladhara

The word Muladhara breaks down into two Sanskrit words: Mula meaning “root” and Adhara, which means “support” or “base.”

It’s the Chakra known as the root of all things. It represents your physical and spiritual connection to the Earth. It governs your sense of safety, strength, stability, groundedness and commitment.

When the Base Chakra is aligned you’ll feel a sense of stability and security. You feel grounded and connected with yourself and others. In tune with your physical health and body.

The colour of the Base Chakra is red and it’s located at the base of your spine.

When the Base Chakra is Blocked

We prefer to focus on the emotional and spiritual aspects of the Chakras. When the Root Chakra is blocked you can feel a sense of fear, instability, anxiety and disconnection. Especially anxious about finances and career.

DISCLAIMER: Or we could just be heading into a recession. As we said, this is an ancient spiritual practice, it’s a tool and not necessarily a truth. Take the aspects that feel right for you and always remember to question everything you read and learn.

ALSO! Right now we are finalising our Chakra Masterclasses. They’ll be short and informative classes on each Chakra and will discuss HOW to unblock them. They will all be uploaded into MerryBody.
